We received a letter from our local fire department, demanding that we install a commercial fire alarm system in our facility. Upon calling the fire marshall, they were not able to tell us what exactly we needed..( smoke detectors, horn strobes, pull stations, heat detectors, fan shutdown, etc). As it turns out, they only "approve" designs, but do not design what we need. We tried to understand the RI safety code as downloaded, and realized the RI fire laws were extremely complicated amd confusing, with sections for multifamily homes, seperate from places of assembly, industrial, three family, commercial, etc. We asked a neighboring facility who they used and they recommended AAA Alarms and Fire out of West Warwick. Turned out our neighbor gave us a great referral, as AAA Alarms was wonderful to work with, as they handled everything from the initial design and surveys of the building, plan submittals to the local fire authority, permits, installation, final approvals, and continue to provide the requires quarterly testing and inspections and 24hr service that is required by RI state law. In addition, we decided to switch our security system to AAA for monitoring of both our buglar and now Fire Alarm system from their 24 hr monitoring station. All at a price that no other vender came close to! 5 star service! Thanks Nunzio!
Response from AAA Alarms And Fire Protection
Thanks for review Gary! Glad to have helped bring your facility up to current fire alarm code. Unfortunately, the fire alarm code is very complicated here in RI and often times is misinterpreted costing the building owners more than they should be spending. We pride ourselves in keeping the system cost as low as possible to meet the code. We have the experience and resources to challenge the Marshalls if we feel they have misinterpreted as in your case, due to square footage requirements. Glad to have you as our customer!
